Valerie and Richard Beaudet, owners of the old Barre Firehouse, announce a new addition to the historic building. The Beaudets had a replica made of the controversial Firehouse Weather Vane that they plan to return to the pedestal where it stood guard for almost 100 years on the firehouse hose tower of their building.

With the help of the Barre City Fire Department, the Weather Vane will be mounted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 24th 2010 during The Beaudet's 1st Annual Tribute to Heroes Celebration to be held in collaboration with their  restaurant Ladder 1 Grill's 1 Year Anniversary celebration.  After the weather vane is set, their will be live music performed by Jam on Toast on the back deck, as well as drink and food specials.  A commemorative tee shirt will be on sale to mark the historic event.

The entire Barre City Fire Department was invited as The Beaudet's guests, as well as the Mayor Tom Lauzon who has already confirmed he will attend the event with his wife Karen.

The Ladder 1 Grill and Pub is located at 8 South Main Street in the old Firehouse.  It is filled with antique memorabilia, photos of fire departments throughout the state, and even houses an antique red telephone booth.  The menu is over 9 pages long and almost every item is named after firefighters past and present in Vermont, such as the Balzanelli, named after past firefighter Sam Balzanelli. Or the Gladiator Nachos named after 2 generations of Gladding Fire Fighters, 1 of which was the first Fire Chief of the Barre City Fire Department, and his grandson Dave Gladding who is a current fire fighter with the department.

The Beaudets plan to continue the celebration annually in conjunction with the Barre Heritage Festival, a 3 day festival that honors Barre's ethnic heritage.
